Bellevue Police just released a video in English and Spanish reiterating their stance on enforcement of immigration law — they don’t do it.

Please share widely throughout the community!

Sunday, March 19, 3:30-5:30 pm
Location: North Bellevue Community Center, 4063 148th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98007

In the wake of the rising incidence of hate speech and hate crimes against immigrants, people of color and adherents of non-Christian faiths, the Indian Association of Western Washington (IAWW), Chinese Information and Services Center, and the Eastside Refugee and Immigrant Coalition will hold a Hate Crime Information Session on Sunday March 19 from 3:30pm – 5:30pm at North Bellevue Community Center. The King County hate crimes attorney and Bellevue Police officers will address questions, fears and concerns. This session will also provide attendees with practical advice they can use to take precautions, de-escalate potentially dangerous interactions, and stand up for others.

There is significant anxiety and fear in our communities with hate crimes on the rise. It now falls on community leaders and advocates to bring leadership, resolve and strength to bear on this crucial issue.

This is something IAWW is developing with the hope of taking it to different cities in King County to raise awareness, calm fears and bolster community unity to protect potential victims. Please get the word out to your members and join us for this important event.

Last month, Bellevue became the state’s largest majority minority city. Asian and other immigrants have fueled much of this shift. Read more about it here.
